‘Volvo’,
one of the leading automotive companies in the world has brought
down a new vision of technology for the new generation. The multinational
Swedish manufacturing company is planning to use the cloud to connect the cars
in order for a better road safety measures.
The
most basic problem that a person can ever face in a road is nothing but a
traffic jam. So, if you are coming to a sudden stop on the highway due to
traffic jam, then this new system by developed by Volvo will sense the upcoming
danger and will automatically transmit the information to the other drivers via
cloud, so they can be alerted well before and will also guide them with further
instruction.
The
sensors that Volvo is using will directly communicate to the cloud instead of
individuals using their Smartphone unlike that of waze, the crowd-sourced
traffic data service used before. The basic requirements for this sensor will
be a internet connectivity inside the car. For this project, Volvo is building
relationships with various providers around the world including AT&T in the
US.
For
starters, the service will be available for a certain models in Sweden and
Norway where the car maker has the maximum number of marketshare, but the
company expects that the program could expand and can envision in time when it
will communicate with all the equipped cars, regardless of the make.
The Company showed of their project plan last
week at the Mobile World Congress. The company’s VP and Group CIO Klaus
Kendrick said:
In case you’re wondering, he says there is no personal data
transmitted as part of this process. He can see this
service developing further over time, and perhaps expanding as more
companies get involved.”We are leading this development, but the industry is
still young,” he said.He further added, “Over time other car
makers have to be involved to make it more useful.”
Well, i hope this new plan of Volvo can spread all over the world increasing the "Road safety' factor.
